Sr. Pastor – Alan D Kethan was born in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Texas Lutheran College with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Theology and minor in Social Work. Pastor graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, completing his graduate studies with an internship in Wisconsin. His first call was at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg,Texas. He has served churches in Karnes City, San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Brenham Texas. He is married to Debbie Kethan who is a pre-school teacher at St. Paul. They have 5 children spread out over Texas, New York, and North Carolina. Pastor Kethan has been doing extensive studies in Family Systems Theory as it applies to congregational ministries for the last 8 years. He has served as Chaplain for the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department for the last 2 years. He and Deb love to fish, hunt, travel, & play golf.
Secretary/Organist - Elena came to work at St. Paul in 2014. She is a life-long member of St. Paul and a graduate of Columbus High School. She received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Sam Houston State University and taught elementary music in Pasadena ISD for 4 years and in Columbus ISD for 9 years. Elena is married to John, Jr., and they have a son Clayton who recently graduated from Sam Houston State University.
Visitation Pastor - Rev. John Hunsicker has been a Parish Pastor for 37 years. He grew up, was educated and ordained in Pennsylvania where he served 3 parishes. He moved to Texas in 1982 to become a Mission Developer in Katy / West Houston area (Covenant Lutheran Church) until 1993. From 1993 - 2005 he was the pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus. He was the Director of Developement for the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest from 2005 - 2013. He began as a regular supply pastor for the Tri-County Cooperative Ministry (Weimar, Prairie Valley, Moulton, Sublime, and Witting) in September, 2013. He became a Visitation Pastor at St. Paul, Columbus, July, 2015. HIs volunteer work includes being on the founding committee and first president of Bear Creek Assistance MInistries in the Katy / West Houston area. He also served as Dean of Cat Spring / LaGrange deanery and president of the Bluebonnet Coaliton (a coalition of 38 churches in the greater Brenham area). He also served as every officer over the years in the Columbus Ministerium. He is currently president of the Brenham Mission Society. He served for 5 years on the Board of the Lutheran Foundation of the Southwest as the synodical representative (becoming secretary in 2004). He is a member of the Weimar Lions Club: president 2013 - 2014, became treasurer April, 2015. He joined the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Champion Valley in 2014 and was elected president in 2015.
